A postcard from the Kennels…

I don’t usually write any stand-alone blogs on the accommodation we stay in during our weekend adventures around Scotland… Unless, of course, I get proper house envy. You can tell which category this place falls under!

For one night we were lucky enough to stay at the Kennels self-catering property at Mount Stuart. It’s tucked within a beautiful mix of cow-filled fields, golden woodland and landscaped gardens that make up this 300-acre estate on the Isle of Bute. Oh, and it’s just a short walk from the breathtaking building that is Mount Stuart house itself.

From its clean, white walls to the bright blue-and-yellow palette, the spacious two-bedroom stone house felt like such a cosy setting to celebrate the start of autumn. I don’t take many photos of interiors, but really enjoyed experimenting with capturing the colours and details of the property. It’s just lovely, isn’t it?

I hope you enjoy this little series of images, which hopefully highlight all these characteristics — plus the beautiful way in which the windows framed the slowly-changing autumnal countryside around the Kennels!

Thank you too to the kind team at Mount Stuart, who left a generous welcome hamper in the cottage including a breakfast pack, fresh bread, butter, milk, trout and two small bottles of gin, all sourced from local makers on the island. I’m looking forward to polishing off that gin (maybe with a little help from my mum).
